SarahTheresa: It has been over 8 weeks since my 3 yr old son and I, have received assistance. There is only so much I can do and we partially rely on that assistance every month. There was no forewarning or notice ahead of time. We have been surviving off of peanut butter, spaghetti-o's, and fish for 2 months now. When you call your social worker for 2 months straight and they still do not answer your calls or return any phone calls, in regards to when this problem will be fixed. You know it's a more serious problem than what's being shown.

Jewel: It's been over 8 weeks for my family as well and there's five of us. It's real hard trying to choose between paying rent and feeding your family. It's only the grace of God that we're not starving. We've had to go to local pantries :-(

Stephanie: I have just been hit in the delay as well. I have been without food stamps for almost a week now and was told it could be a month and a half or even longer. They should have thought this through more than they did!
07 11, 2013 | 20:10
melissa: I was suppose to get my food stamps on July 7th and still nothing. I am currently not working, I am a Full time student and not having my stamps are really hard. I have been going to some churches for help. I will be glad when this delay is over.

NCBlueyes: Our tax dollars at work: If you go to the DSS website (mine is in Iredell County), there is NO MENTION WHATSOEVER of this crisis on their news blog! They have one, but there are no stories or information listed. ??? Isn't that EXACTLY what this is for? You would think any department of social services with a delay issue would post such a thing on THEIR WEBSITE. Unbelievably stupid. What do our taxes pay these geniuses for? Still nothing in the paper or TV news feed. I've been researching several months.

Ro J: I don't receive assistance but I have a family member that does. He is a single parent with three kids. He hasn't received food stamps since May. Fortunately I and other family members have been able to provide financial support. I just think it's a shame more isn't being done to recognize this issue and getting it resolved.

Charlene: This is ridiculous they insist you have all your information into in a timely manner for what so they can lag around while people are going without. And all the time you have to do without their not gonna make up for it. Sad to say but this is the sorry government we have. Hey government officials your new system isn't working how bout using the old one and quit wasting our time and tax dollars
07 19, 2013 | 13:06
What Is Next: This delay came during summer vacation when parents have the responsibility to feed kids three meals and extra snacks throughout the week and weekend. This is very unfortunate for those seeking employment and trying to hold their families down.
07 20, 2013 | 21:53
myah: This affects me indirectly but my oldest daughter did her recert on time and she has two children. No food stamps yet. Before this delay I sent her sisters to spend the summer with her to help out with the baby and now nobody has food. I am a student and have been pulling food from my freezer to help out. My question, was there a backup or did anyone do an isolated test run to see how this would affect those in need. Not only that what happens to the elderly who need food to take medicine or maintain blood glucose levels. Really government get it together!
07 24, 2013 | 15:57
Suzy: I am a single mom of 5, I work full-time but do not get child support, so i rely on food stamps so that i can pay the bills and feed my children.....this delay is unfair to the children most of all....we see commercials about children going hungry but the system is the problem here.

Nikki: Im still waiting on my stamps for this month. Its always a something with the system. The beginning of the year they did a system change and I was without mine for the months of January February and March. Every time I went up there they appointed me to a different worker even the supervisor as one. i kept getting the same news "its nothing on your fault your recery is in give it a week and it shpuld be on" I got so fed up with that and that no one was returning my calls. So I done what I had to do...I called and got the number to file a complaint amd that number directed me to the Raleigh. Whoever the nice lady was took my complaint contacted Cumberland County DSS and the next day all my stamps was on my card for the three months I hadn't got. Now here we go again and another dealing with the system. But what I dont understand is this system always having problems but they still using it. Maybe its not tge system maybe its the workers just sitting around not doing their work on time when recert paerwork is turned in on time. Cumberland County needs to do better than what they are doing.

Mary J: I've been waiting on my stamps since the 19th of July. I recertified this month and was never informed that there might be a problem. They should have let people know last month so we could have tried to plan a little for it, but nothing. I feel really bad for those who have children and are delayed, I'm an older single women but I still depend on them to eat. This is a real hardship for a lot of people. The worst part of it is that you cant even get an idea of when you are expected to get your stamps, they say just keep checking the card. For me I have a minute phone with only 250 mins a mth I cant call everyday without using all my mins then if an emergency comes up i have no mins. I just want to know when I can expect to eat without begging friends and family who really dont have it to give, and are they going to give us the stamps for months missed. Cant somebody give us some answers.
08 01, 2013 | 14:44
Lisa R.: Like the rest of you, i too was suppose to get my stamps on July 19th. I went to the grocery store and when it was time to pay,the cashier said you owe $109 and i said what? Thats when i called and found out that i had no stamps. I never heard anything about a delay. That was embarassing. I call just about everyday. I called on friday and this is what i get "girl, the computers are still down. i dont know whats going to happen, i dont know what to tell you." and that was from a worker at DSS in Concord, NC. Seems like if they knew this was going to take place, they could have sent a warning along with a food voucher. People are in need and this is a real hardship especially our governer cut unemployment which i was one of those people too. Thank God for my sister and food pantries. This is just a shame and a mess and no one has any answers.

Emily: I have been without FS benefits since June 15th! I'm a full time student and my husband has been laid off. I don't see how they can legally do this to people, especially people with children!!!!
08 05, 2013 | 10:45
Mary: My husband is disabled and we have 4 kids. We depend on EBT for our monthly food. It is only $350 a month, but I have learned to really make it last. I recertified in June and should have recieved July 13th. I called on the 16th and got a recording that said they were running 2-3 weeks behind. Our families rolled up their spare change and we bought the essentials. I called August 5 and the recording said we are running 1 month behind. I checked back on August 9th, and the recording said 1 and 1/2 months behind. How long can this last? They just keep putting people off! We cannot buy school supplies for the kids, bc we are using the money for groceries. I will run completely out of money in one more week. And this is after visiting a weekly food pantry for help since the beginning. I just wish we had had some kind of warning! I live in Iredell county, by the way.
08 10, 2013 | 11:59
S: I live in rowan county, and was supposed to receive my benefits on July 9th. I was due for recert. And got my papers in by the end of the month. When I saw I had a zero balance on my card I called my worker. She called me back a few days later and told me they are switching to a new system and are behind on entering in recerts. Then she told me if I returned my paperwork too early, they would have to interview me all over again. This makes no sense whatsoever, but that's the system for you. The thing I thought was more messed up is this system was tested in a few pilot counties first before here. The pilot counties ALL had problems and delays and yet they still went forward with it. What was the point of having pilot counties?? Even worse, when I asked my worker if she could tell me if she needed anything from me and if that was causing the delay, or if it was just on their end, she couldn't even get into my account to pull my info. And tell me! That's how bad it is. She told me she would call me back when she got in but it is a month later, and still haven't heard anything, or received benefits for august so I guess she never got in. I've left several messages but no response. Thank god I have family to help or we would be screwed. Some warning would have been nice. Smh. Thanks a lot assholes.

MadMom: I tried to get a hold of my case worker in Cabarrus county today and the lady that answered then phone would not let me speck to anyone. They told me it could be three months before I receive anything. What are we suppose to do when the food banks are running out and they are taking there sweet time to get things in? I have three little kids to feed that do not understand what's going on. All kids know are they are hungry and the government isn't helping. This is a bunch of bull. Why change systems when there was nothing wrong with the one they had? This system is suppose to be faster.
08 15, 2013 | 22:49
NashMoM: The same thing is happening in Nash County. I have called that office 15 times a day for 1 week now and haven't been able to speak with anyone. I did my recert in June. Thank God I work and have income and family members to help me and my children.
08 16, 2013 | 15:47
Makingdue: I'm disabled and live alone and really have no one to help me.My sister helps when she can but shes retired and has to help her own family at times. This just made everyones summer horrible! They could have told us in advance they don't care cause it s not them. Now they say they don't know when it will be fixed? That stinks!I try to do food banks when I can.
08 17, 2013 | 16:03
help!!!: Same bs in guilford county!!!
08 22, 2013 | 21:32
Clueless : I had went to buy food on the 21st of August not knowing anything that was going on. The lady said I only had 11 cents on my card. I said what I should had more. Being without food the week before the 21st I had to get it since I'm pregnant and have a 3 year old. I called my office and they did not even tell me there was a delay in the system they just said to keep checking. So I decide to call customer service. They told me I was suppose to re enroll in June or July. I had not even gotten a letter to enroll. So I go down to the office to re enroll. If it wasn't for me calling customer service I would still be sitting here wondering why my card is at 0 balance. It's really hard on us without having money to eat and depending on food stamps. I know there is food pantry's out there, but it ain't even a week worth of food. I'm just thankful of the food we can get to survive this
08 24, 2013 | 15:47
itzasecret: Brunswick County too! Applied for benefits 7/12/13. Was told I qualified for emergency benefits and would receive them in 7-10 days. It has now been 44 days and I haven't received even a letter. Called DSS worker but she keeps telling me sorry, we are behind, system changes, blah, blah, blah. My kids will not be able to start school tomorrow as I had to use what little bit of money we get on food and was unable to buy clothes, shoes or school supplies.
08 25, 2013 | 14:49
candie: Im frustrated. Lord only knows how we Will make it through this one!!!
08 25, 2013 | 15:29
Marissa: We need to get attention to this matter! Organize a grass roots movement-march to the state capital. The governed has food on his plate at night. Has he come forward to adress this problem? It is a horrible mess and we are paying the price for poor planning! let us unit! More power if we join hands and voices to get this on the front page and news program. mp
08 29, 2013 | 22:58
W Cheek: I have been without mine since June and did my recert in July! Told the same thing as all of you, "system changes, behind, bladdy bla bla" well Unfortunately the food banks around my house are all out bc everyone else has gone there so me and my family are just s.o.l. and no I have absolutely NO family to help me whatsoever. . . My kids are 6, almost 4 and almost 2.... all they know is they're hungry. I starve and let them eat what I can afford while trying to keep my bills paid. My car got repowed bc I put food in my children's mouth and now I'm on the verge of losing my house too and will soon have to move! I live in Yadkin County fyi. So it is happening all over, I just don't understand why they aren't preparing people for this and don't care! All I want to do is cry but what would that solve??
08 30, 2013 | 10:38
Amy: What did the gov have to eat today?!!
08 30, 2013 | 13:32
Brandy: This is horrible...all because the Government didn't want this done on paper but on some new system. My husband recently got laid off with no warning, we have three kids and I am currently 5 months pregnant. I applied almost three months ago and was told I should hear something by the end of the first month. I called my worker daily and each time I got a recording but she would never return my calls. I got so fed up I went to her office and she said it was kinda working but she had cases ahead of mine and I should hear something within a week. I have heard nothing and she didn't even willingly give me information for food banks. We have had to let other bills slide just to make sure our kids have something to eat but what we have is almost gone and those waiting on their money want it paid within the next couple of weeks and the food banks are running out because of all the extra families needing help. This problem really needs to get fixed....I'm sure if it was the government's families that were starving they would have it working in no time.
09 01, 2013 | 17:46
Vanessa: I re-certified Last month, it was to be turned in by the 15th. Yesterday I was to have my benefits and nothing, today still nothing. My worker has a message on her machine that the system is causing delays, she does not know when it will be back up and she will not return calls about it. I e-mailed the Governor today, I doubt it will do much but if he is bombarded it may get him to do something! I am a single mother of 5 in college trying to leave this type of nonsense behind me. My kids should not suffer because of bad planning and workers who do not know how to do their job.
09 04, 2013 | 14:30
Mary: I recertified last month and turned it in on the first. I have just hit my expected date today an didn't get anyhting. When I called my local worker. I got a recording. Transylvania county is experiencing the same thing. Most of NC is hungry and not getting anything. I can't eat what everybody else does.
09 05, 2013 | 10:26
ccinnash: we are on our second month without foodstamps and all of our info was turned in on time for recert. my husband went to the office because he couldn't reach anyone by phone. they told him it was being processed and just keep checking. I am disabled and my monthly check is all the income we have. after paying bills and paying for my prescriptions, there isn't much left. toilet paper, gas, and other things get paid for while they can. but that doesn't leave much to buy food. and I'm talking about for the entire month. if something doesn't happen soon, I don't know what we'll do.
09 05, 2013 | 11:24
mary l.: Guilford county, same problems . and the pilot program last year was a failure,-so it:s continued,-,over a year?! I f they're outta money at least just say warning for any of job abruptly ended. FAM., etc. Have helped all they could and more. I promise to note te-vote for any incumbent in any, any office since this has been a 15 month problem as far as I know.
09 07, 2013 | 17:35
SRA: Stanly Co. is a joke too. I was up for recert in July & turned it in on the 1st. When the 19th of August rolled around nothing... It is now Sept & still nothing. I am hoping I will get it on the 19th of this month, if not I don't know what we are going to do. We live paycheck to paycheck as it is. I called the DSS office and the recording says they will NOT be returning phone calls unless they need information from you. I am just shocked because when I turned my app in I was not even informed this was going to be taking place. I seriously think someone has dropped the ball and we are the ones suffering. So I guess my wait continues.
09 08, 2013 | 15:53
Mandy: We are having the same problem. Fortunately, this is the first time it has happened to us. We do not get enough to last a month as it is. I am a stay at home mom and my husband works 40 hours a week and it's just enough to pay our bills and put gas in our vehicles and have a few dollars left to buy laundry detergent and toilet paper. I was up for recert last month and I sent in my form on time. Never heard anything back and today was suppose to be our refill date and got nothing. We are having it hard like much of you are. What we normally get isn't enough to last a month and we were already putting off bills to buy groceries since the end of last month. We were really counting on having them today and didn't realize all of this was going on. I hate having to depend on Foodstamps but with the way things have been going in this economy, we've had no other choice. I just do not know what to do. I called some pantries today but all are booked up for atleast a month and one said we didn't qualify under an emergency. Seems to be an emergency to me when I have no clue how to buy groceries for my kids because every other possibility such as using bill money is out of the question since we have already done that!!

A friend : If I was you guys I WOULD SEU THE MESS out the gonverment DSS or who ever is causing this. Your comments break my heart and NO ONE should have to go with out! This is the GREAT U.S right??? What the heck are we paying taxes for?! There are lawyers that do not charge anything upfront! No down payment! They receive money ONLY if you WIN! You all should look some up and sue for what you have soent on food PLUS pain and suffering!!!!

worried: In stanly co. When i turned my papers in they told me i probably would not get them for september. And they said christian ministries are out of food. I got a three yr old and we live pay check to pay check. We have no family to help. Its pay the light bill or eat. I pray to god something happens and i do get them the 17th, i dont know what to do if we dont.
09 10, 2013 | 17:06
Lisa: Randolph Co. Is having the same problem. I havent heard a thing from my worker. No warning and i recertified in July.
09 11, 2013 | 07:19
janet: Wow....just reading your comments make me cry. All of this was planned doesn't give a damn about any of you. This is a tactic to force a lot of you off fstamps. See what happened to Michigan residents. It's happening everywhere, fstamps cut in Va next month. By Nov, everybody fstamps will be cut by 10%. My Lord, they are really sticking it to NC. People please send your kids to school, materialistic things shouldn't matter. Stop teaching them as we know it is crumbling. I'm praying for each and everyone of you. When you do get stamps, stock up on items and not junk. Stock up on can beans, dry beans, rice, can veggies, pasta, soup, spam, can tuna, can beef, oil, etc. Food that will see you through. Plant a garden if you can, collards, potatoes, etc grow year long. Find propane cooking stove for $19 or little more in case turn off electric. You have to think outside the box. We haven't seen anything yet. May God be with you all.
09 12, 2013 | 10:51
janet: Mary with the 5 kids and Worried. I'm nowhere near rich or even middle class, but God have blessed me. Mary I have nicely kept worn teenage boy clothes. Also have baby clothes. I also can purchase can goods and pasta for you and Worried. Will put grocery receipt in box to show items are good. I'm not a con artist, I'm just blessed to help someone in need. I'm from Goldsboro, been gone for over 35 yrs. I'm upstate now. I want post my email, I can only help 2 and you two I chose. God knows I wish I could help you all. I'm new to this you will have to think of away I can reach you. I also gave a good friend in Raleigh whom is a journalist. So he know how to find out if you're truthful or not. All I want to do is help.

Give Up On NC: Cabarrus County - Mine ended in April. I did the paperwork to renew like I was suppose to. I've called many times and all I've heard was that they are behind. The last week of August they said those that were suppose to get them in "my cycle" will have it by 8/31. Called back on 9/6 to see if there was any new info. They told me I "was forgotten about" with the rest of them. I doubt they got their's either. On 9/9 they said they now need updated income info before they can process it since it has been months since I put in the paperwork to renew. He acted like he would rush it through. I called today (9/12) and asked if there was an update. He said the system won't allow him to put in the relationship of my children to myself and he can't process it until it allows him to select "child" in the system. I asked if him if there was any idea as to when I could expect them and sarcastically asked "in like 3 months?" He said he doesn't know but he wouldn't think it would take that long. He said it could be tomorrow or weeks from now. We can't make it any longer. My job has reduced hours to make everyone part time for this obamacare. I'm looking for another job to get more hours but nothing yet. The sad part is that I went to college... I thought I did everything right but people leave and jobs disappear. Now its just me and my two boys. My youngest turns 7 today and I feel bad telling him that his dinner will be roman noodles again. I've gave up on getting help anytime soon. I'm now counting down the days until it hits 1 year since we've had food stamps.
09 12, 2013 | 17:44
Misty: Put Davidson county on the list now too. My benefits are now late. I have 3 children and I am unemployed. I called my caseworker and listened to the ridiculous voice message stating she will not be returning phone calls and that processing time is around 30-45 days. I sent my re-cert form back in early August. No letter from them yet like I normally get. I'm not holding out hope. I really don't have any clue how I'm going to feed my kids. I held out hope my county wouldn't get caught up in delays but even so I wish I had been notified. I really hate NC. I don't know who started all this stuff of why but I really hope they rot in hell.
09 13, 2013 | 11:36
TimeForChange: My daughter is on FS and a student and it's the only way she can contribute, now I have mother with cancer I have to bring here and care for and a child with mental illness. Believe me, if my husband and I are late on state taxes, they will garnish our checks. I THINK IT'S TIME WE ORGANIZE A PETITION ON CHANGE.ORG and gather signatures around the country and get this BS on the move. NC is all over the political blogs as it is for the horror story they are becoming, so who better to put the pressure on than Mom's with hungry kids? Anyone in? Go to and begin a petition.
09 13, 2013 | 16:55
mary l.: Where did I read that the Guilford county head (dds) responded last year (re: the delays) that if only "he could consult his crystal ball,..." Then maybe he'd have an idea when the problems would be resolved,- something to that effect...the crystal ball comment being pure inhumane sarcasm, in my opinion . we pay DSS folks' salaries and they continue with their ineptitude??!!!
09 15, 2013 | 15:52
chris: I really don't know what to do I turned in my papers on time and no response. I have four girls and this is just taking a toll on me. My fiance and I work, but hours are very slack. He may work 3 days and I work four and very little hours. I just do my best until time comes I know that crying every night is not going to help me but what else is there to do. Sending the kids to school helps me a little because I know they will at least eat something. God is on our side we will make it God bless you all
09 15, 2013 | 21:59
Leah L. : Wow. I'm a young widow with two little girls, and a full time student (so I can get out of this financial mess) and I just went to the grocery store and there were no food stamps. I live on social security and Pell grants, and now I have less than a quarter tank of gas, $40 in my pocket, and no food. I'm terrified now after reading all of this. What are we going to do?!
09 16, 2013 | 19:59
Jeris: same for gaston county spoke with a mrs price and she seems to think this is perfectly acceptable. I'm so angry about this. I did mouth off and tell her I hope she fears for her job. I'm contacting every news agency and commissioner i can get on the phone with today.

Ryan: This problem is very widespread across the state. Only now is the media (slightly) starting to pay attention. Some have gone over 3 months without a word on their recertification. There is a petition to send to the governor and create more attention the the problem at
09 20, 2013 | 12:56
Mary in Statesville: I tried to look up the petition listed by Ryan on9-20-13, but I could not find it. Any idea on how to look it up? I tried the search on the page for, but no luck. Thanks for any help!

Lupita : I have been without food stamps since July, almost three months and still nothing. Sad...
09 22, 2013 | 23:23
justme: Moore County same thing. I recertified a while ago. Got a letter Aug 8th. "Your household is eligible for Food and Nutrition...til Feb.28, 2014..." I've called the case worker, the call center, (no return call from the call center...over a week ago) Anyway, it seems the standard line is "Keep checking your card..." Riiiiight!! It's the beginning of the end for stamps. Whatever. Wish they gave me the heads up. Yes, embarrassing going up to the checkout line and DECLINE. God help us all.
09 24, 2013 | 14:40
MiMi: Same thing in Cumberland County. I did an on time recert in August, and have yet to receive benefits. I have been to a food pantry and that is running low. I am a full time student and have three children. When i call dss, either the line is busy, youre placed on hold indefinitely, or your call is kicked out as soon as you press the number for the department you need to reach. I dont understand why we cant at least get honest answers.
09 24, 2013 | 15:25
Mary: I finally got a real live person to speak to me in Iredell county. She said that they were trying to finish up the June people now. She said to keep checking my card every day. We recertified in June and should have recieved our benefits on July 13th. Nothing since June. She also said that they were still having trouble with the system itself messing up. Pray they sort this out for all of us soon!!
09 24, 2013 | 16:42
HungryInBladen: I recertified almost two months ago and nothing yet. Call your local newspapers and get them to investigate and do a story on it. That's what I'm going to do, I'm writing the Bladen Journal. Squeaky wheel gets the oil. No one likes bad publicity, put the pressure on them.

GOD IS AWESOME: I am a full-time student with a 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter. We were just up for recertification and turned in our paperwork last month. It would have been nice to have had some kind of warning so that we could have tried to stock up a little. I don't know what we are going to do in about a week. The local food banks are already struggling to keep up. The case worker still hasn't returned my calls and now the DSS phone line says call back later. They won't even take any calls anymore. With all the recent talk of $40 billion in cuts for food stamps over the next 10 years, it makes me wonder if the government figured out a way to get some of it back. Just cut everyone off for a few months and there you go! No matter the reason for the delays, there are going to be a great deal of people hurting over the next few months, and let's face it, most of them will be children. So much for a faster system. The new system cost was $42 million I believe. That money should have been spent paying some of the $40 billion the government is cutting out of the food stamp fund over the next 10 years.

Cindy: Pitt county in the same boat :( recert in July and nothing since then I'm a family of 4 and it hard to choose between food and rent. Hope I get it soon :(.
09 24, 2013 | 23:30
Renee: same thing...I recerted in warning of possible delay..did not receive benefits for sept. Spent two weeks calling with no return call..went to dss Monday and they can't tell us when might get our benefits. I two kids and we all are hungry right note..
09 24, 2013 | 23:31
amy: Same in cleveland county. Why didnt we get a warning? Why couldnt they send any type of heads up so we can work it out and not be embarrased or have to tell our kids im sorry money is tight and pray the food comes soon. I have four kids and cant get child support either because workers arent doing their jobs. They demand your part and do almost nothing on theres. Im praying for all of us..doubt the government is.

09 26, 2013 | 17:31
The Mrs.: We turned our recertification in at the end of August becase DSS sent it to the wrong address. The caseworker advised me up front not to even expect anything on the 19th. Really? Who was the genius that didnt test the system before rolling it out. While I think there should never become a point where we are dependent on food stamps, the help is needed. With Duke energy always asking for an increase, high gas costs, water bill, clothing for children you name, I think we are all stretched a little thin. They need to get their act together and quick. They've already fired on DSS Director they may need to get rid of another. People can accept that things are broken and need to be fixed, but when you get to the point that you care nothing about the families who need the aid, not even to tell them when the delay will be fixed and wehen they can anticipate their help coming, is down right out disrespectful. If you let the people know there is a delay and what steps you are taking to rectify instead of not calling them back, you wont have as many people that are pissed off. NC get your act together.

Whatsup: Has anyone who has been waiting since june and july recieved anything yet? Has there been any progress for anyone. If I get any new info I willreport back here for those who are following this site.

10 01, 2013 | 08:41
sheemj: Angry and hungry: I called Dss several times and got several different answers. One was I should receive something in 7 days. Another was I should receive something in 10 days. Another one said I should get my October stamps on time but she don't know when I will get September. Now one says their behind 2 months and I might not see anything until November or December. Then the last one said mines got sent to NC capital and they are processing it.

mika: @ whatsup I'll been waiting since july and haven't recieve anything yet, I was told I should of had something 2 weeks ago but it didn't show up. I just haven'had the time to go to social services and wait and wait for hours since they never answer when you call. But I have friends that have recieve theirs, so I'm trying to keep hope alive. I plan to make it up there by next week, and hopefully I can find out something.
10 01, 2013 | 11:37
Clueless: I am 9 months pregnant and re applied in August. I've been waiting for 2 months. I've called up there and everything and no reply. Today when my husband goes to get medicaid they tell us they don't know where our paper went and they will try to find it. How in the world do you loose someones paper work. I am extremely upset. Hoping they find it soon.

beck: bottom line is everyone in dss needs to pull their heads out there ass and fix this mess asap...
10 02, 2013 | 07:53
Liza: We have not received anything since June. Social Worker and supervisor will not return calls. Lady at main number said a bunch of recertifications were sent to Raleigh to get caught up. That was 3 weeks ago. Lets face it, they are just saying what they can to get us off the phone. WE NEED TO GET THIS ON NATIONAL NEWS to let the country know whats going on down here.
10 02, 2013 | 10:16
HungryInBladen: I was blessed I guess. I was very worried after reading all these comments. Mine were actually only 6 days late. That seems like a lot when you have hardly no food in the house. I'm praying for the rest of you, keep calling them and demand answers.

mary l.: To the mrs.: there was a pilot program that began jan. 2012..same probs. Yet they still i.b.m.purchased the computer program, "accenture," from i.b.m.!! Epic fail! Utah already told our state it was wrought w/problems for them! Grown-ass ppl r supposed to learn from others' mistakes. I do not give a #@&! About the whys and wherefores of any of these pregnancies. I want these unborn prlple )babies) and their mothers to have the very, very best food and nutrition!!!!!!! Not, not, not little to nothing in utero and after!!! As mentioned in a previous post, i am voting no incumbants back in since the idiots obviously don't care about the present or future of our country.....oh, and now no w.i.c.?!! Shame on both political parties :-(

StarvingInConcord: We've been starving while we've been waiting since 7/1/13. That's 13 weeks and no food stamps. Every time we call they say their now processing May applications. We don't know what else to do. And the food pantries say we have to wait 3 months to return for more food, when they only give enough to last a week at the most. Is there anyone that could help?
10 04, 2013 | 23:08
Lupita : Same thing in Pitt county, I have been without food stamps since July and nobody at the dss tell me something good. They say just keep checking your card every day, but am tired, need some help now! I'm afraid they have lost my paperwork :( can somebody help me?

Starving in raleigh: I Am a mother of 6, my husband passed away last year. I work 40 plus hrs a week. Can't hArdly keep gas to go to work much less buy toiletries. We have been living off applesauce and oodles of noodles. My 15 yr old wants a job to help out but I refuse because education is important to me. Trying to find a part time job. For days I don't eat just to make sure they eat. But God will make a way.

Kim: I just got off the phone with the Guilford County DSS (after a 53 minute hold). Apparently, they are still processing JUNE food stamp reviews. It is October. I was also told they will be lowering everyone's food stamps as of November, due to the federal funding cutbacks.
10 07, 2013 | 16:05
Kim: Also, once we do finally do get our food stamps, whenever that may be, it will retroactively include the amounts for the months we were eligible. Meaning, if you applied in June and were eligible starting in June, and they finish processing (or whatever they're doing) in November, then you will get a huge amount in November, to cover June onwards. This is great, but we're hungry today.

WorriedMommy: I'm just wondering if anyone in Forsyth County has gotten their food stamps yet? I recertified in August and haven't gotten mine. I was lucky to have a friend buy my family food but that's all gone now. This is so frustrating. I know two people that recertified the same time I did but they had no delay in getting their food stamps.

faded memories: Is there anyone in Sampson county or anyone who knows anyone is Sampson county with this issue? I applied in June and got approved in July and haven't received anything after getting approved. My caseworker gave me some BS story that she couldn't solve the issue herself BC it was a technical issue so it was sent to Raleigh Ncfast technical team along with 60 other cases. I did some research and got the number to ncfast tech support. Actually it says ncfast customer support and when I called I was told my caseworker had to call. Then why the hell is it called customer support if it can only be accessed to a caseworker?

Michelle Brooks: I live in Iredell County. I am a single mother who is out of work because of a medical condition. I have always worked and I have received Food Stamps for 6 months. There is a delay in the process and I have not received anything for 7 weeks. I cut cupons and try to make every dollar go far. I have went to a few food banks and I am grateful for them however, I have no transportation and I dont know what I am going to do.
10 11, 2013 | 22:19
AngryMominKtown: A working mom here in Kannapolis. It's been two months and two days since I was supposed to get our food stamps. I haven't heard anything from anyone about when or if I will get mine. I am using the little bit of money left over from paying bills to feed two teenagers. This is getting ridiculous! Most of us who are on food stamps do work or have a legitimate excuse as to why they can't. We turned our recerts in on time, why can't they help us out? This is terrible!!

Grandma: Supposed to be re certified as of July Not heard anything as of 10/31 Check every couple of days like told. Nobody will return voice mail messages Now told not to leave message as no longer working on re certifications, So who is doing the job. November tomorrow and time to re certify again Hmmm Iredell county what is going on
10 31, 2013 | 17:39
mykidsrbbj: Has anyone actually gotten their benefits in Iredell County? Because seeing people talk about delays of more than 3 months is making it look like the benefits will never arrive.
11 01, 2013 | 12:04
Mary in Statesville: I live in Iredell county. We recertified in June and should have receieved our next months benefits on July 13th. It is now 11-1-13 and we still have not seen it! They kept saying 4-6 weeks with nothing. Then I got a real person who said they were finishing up June and hoped to start the July people in the next few days. That was over a month ago! I was told to "check my card every day." I wish I knew what was going on and if we would ever see EBT again! As I understand it, EBT is a federally funded program that is then handled at a state level. I wonder if the government shut down slowed it down even more than before? I have even written letters to our NC officials, but no one seems to care that families and children are going hungry in NC! I cannot understand the non caring of human beings! I pray that the situation is worked out soon! If it doesn't work out by December, we will be up for recertification...again. If nothing is in order, how will we recieve our papers in the mail? Then, they will probably say that we have to put in a new application and they will not give us benefits for the standard 45 days, plus whatever behind they are by then! It is really an insane situation! And according to most officials, they say the problem is being addressed and most counties are almost back to the normal schedule. How can they even say that???? From what I am reading, Iredell is not the only county with people wondering why they haven't recieved benefits in months! Anyway, good luck to all of us! I am afraid we are going to need it!!!!
11 01, 2013 | 15:40
jad: Has anyone received it yet In cabarrus county it is going on for 3 months for me.
11 02, 2013 | 08:37
Mary in Statesville: I have not called in a month, so I called today to see what Iredell Social Services had on my worker's voice mail message. She states that recertifications are running 3 to 4 months behind. If that is true, mine will be officially 4 months behind on November 13th! I want to be hopeful, but I have heard it all before and still no EBT. If I ever recieve it, I will post to let everyone in Iredell county know it will eventually happen! Keep your fingers crossed!
11 02, 2013 | 15:09
LeAnna: Ok, let me get this straight. You mean to tell me people haven't received stamps in months? No officials or anyone such as fair hearing is doing anything? How are you guys eating? especially with unemployment gone too. Now they're cutting foodstamps. Naw, that mess isn't right....something fishy going in in NC.
11 05, 2013 | 21:00
Mary in Statesville: Everyone just says they are doing the best they can and to "check your card every day." No one cares bc it is not happening to them! Personally, we are very lucky. My father-in-law has been working overtime for a few months. Every week, my mother-in-law gives us his OT money to buy our groceries. It is tight, but it is enough to get through. We have also been to a couple of food banks, but you have to wait for so long to get about 3 days worth of perishables only, in my area it is not really worth it. Also, my parents have given us some groceries out of their own house twice. We are much luckier than most. I have seen stories of Moms and Dads going to bed and work hungry, so they could feed their kids the little bit of food they had left. And the kids were still hungry after eating the leftover Ramen noodles and peanut butter crackers. Don't you know how many people are going to be sick with this poor nutrition and going into flu season?! I just wish they would get it straighten out! It just isn't right! However, I did hear on the news that Governor Pat McCory just remodeled his house...I guess that is where our EBT/food money is going! If these people do not pay for their sins in this life, they will in their afterlife!
11 06, 2013 | 05:50
Determined: I recertified in August and did not receive anything for the months of September and October...after finally being fed up I went down to DSS and inquired about the status of my EBT case and she looked at me strangely. She asked if I had checked my card...which I stated that I have checked everyday faithfully and immediately called my caseworker. She told me to wait and that my caseworker wanted to speak with me. My caseworker came out and stated that my recertification was done but she could not understand why I hadn't received anything. She also stated that she would push it through and that if I have not received anything by Nov. 4th she would get someone to push it thru...I finally receive my EBT including back months. These past 2 months not knowing how I was going to feed my children has pushed me to work harder in my studies to never want to have to depend on someone ever again...the only person I can depend on is myself. I pray that everyone gets theirs soon! Pitt County
11 06, 2013 | 20:56
Grandma: Well Iredell still nothing. Just checked my card like i was tolled to everyday since July Now it is time for the re-certification to come do again. What am I re certifying for another six months of listening to "you card balance is zero" Thank you North Carolina for being back in the days of old!!! Oh by the way I am fortunatly not a single parent with little ones I am a 75 year old individual that has nobody to bring in a bit of groceries.
11 07, 2013 | 12:32
Anonymous: My child and I receive FNS because I'm am disabled. Because this is anonymous, I'll tell you - I get about $600 for SSI and $350 for child support. That's all of my income. My stamps are $190 per month. I don't know where the news and website calculators get their figures! When FAST was implemented in nc (May or June) we were a week late on benefits. Yesterday (November 2013) I had to spend $100 of my Christmas money on groceries because the EBT was late. It's hard to run a household on $950 a month and save for Christmas. I knew stamps would decrease, but I should've known they'd be late as well. I feel ashamed needing assistance and the in dependability is terrible. I've been taking the RCAT to the salvation army food bank once a month and I'm not the only one. Times are hard and people can be so nasty to one another. Stop being ashamed and start talking. Nobody should go hungry out of pride!
11 09, 2013 | 10:19
mdp: So I was told I get mine on the 9th. I checked yesterday and nothing. I am confused a little I guess. So does anyone know if the money is just delayed being put on your card?
11 10, 2013 | 11:22
sv: I have already sent my paperwork in for my November re-certification. I was told it has been processed. However, as of today Nov 10 2013, I have not received anything in the mail about the next 6 month term. My EBT is suppose to be filled on Nov 19 2013. Guess i have to wait and see if we will be eating this month =/
11 10, 2013 | 19:28
Faded Memories: I applied at the end of june and got approved at the end of july. I had called numerous times and as of today November 11th have not received anything. my recertification is due by November 15th and my last month of benefits was November 9th. Sampson County.
11 11, 2013 | 09:19
LaLa: We were up for recert in October and was told we will continue to get benefits. We get them on the 5th and have yet to receive them. DSS (IF they answer or return your call) just tells us they are a little backlogged and to keep checking my card. That's all I can get. So much for a Christmas or Thanksgiving since my little bit of money will have to be spent on food for my children. I hate being dependent, but we barely get by as it is.
11 13, 2013 | 23:24
Faded: UPDATE: today I was told that my case is so bad that the troubleshooter for Clinton DSS nor Raleigh could not fix it so it was sent to the creator of NC FAST up in IBM. This is insane. Sampson County.
11 15, 2013 | 20:31
HungryInBladen: Sampson and Bladen are hiring more people as well as a few other counties. Hopefully the backlog will catch up soon. Good luck and God bless you all.
11 16, 2013 | 20:46
Mary in Statesville: HungryInBladen...Where did you hear the info about hiring more people? Do you know what other counties are hiring more people to help? We are over 4 months late and the voice message at Iredell county claims they are running 3-4 months behind! I keep hoping and praying! Thanks for any info!
11 19, 2013 | 07:22
Lost out here Greensboro NC: This is freak n crazy.I am a single mother of 5,and my youngest two are 2 year old twins. We are hungry every day!We have not received any stamps for the month of November what so ever!!DSS gave me referrals for food pantries that have no food.I find my self doing odd things, just so that I can feed my babies. We have no where to turn,no family to help me.We all are losing pounds every day.It kills me to see how skinny my 2 year old twins legs are getting.I cry everyday.God help us
11 26, 2013 | 01:46
grandma: While today is Thanksgiving the only thing I am thankful for is my family and my health. Iredell County has not helped me at all. Still waiting on my recertification Turned all papers in on time in June and still no response. Told at least 3-4 months behind. I guess when it is time for the flowers to be bought I might be issued food stamps. voice message are full no person answers phone Stayed on hold for 17min and 32 seconds still no answer on 11-25-13
11 28, 2013 | 13:24
Mary in Statesville: We recertified in June. Have not receieved for July, August, September, October or November. We should have recieved July 13th. About a month ago, out of desperation, I wrote a very long and detailed email to Kay Hagan's office. I received a phone call from someone in Raleigh that said she was from NCFAST program and she had been informed of my concern about my case. She called Iredell county to see where my case was and it was about a week later, Frideay, November 15th, when I finally recieved our EBT. For those of you our there in Iredell county, hang in there bc it does eventually happen. We also received "backpay" for lack of a better word. We recieved the amount from each month we missed. I will continue to pray for each of you and your situation to be fixed asap!!
11 28, 2013 | 17:35
belinda: like as if they couldn't of started this delay right after the holidays especially for the ones that have children that is losing Christmas because the cash that was going to buy them presents has to buy their food
12 04, 2013 | 21:06
jessica: I have a household of 5 and 3 of them are kids. My foodstamps are now almost 3 months behind. I work but pretty much all my check goes to my portion of rent that section 8 doesnt cover and gas and cell. No one ever calls me back from lincoln County to tell me anything. I emailed someone awhile back from the dss website but of course nothing new was told to me that i didnt already know. The pantries are running low......we need prayers.
12 05, 2013 | 14:18
wyner: This is just ridiculous that they do not give you any kind of warning about the problems and delays with recertifications. My aunt turned in her recertification on time and in September and did not receive her November Benefits yet and who knows if she will het December's. I turned in my certification on time in November and I was suppose to get my benefits today, however I didn't. When I called the High Point DSS to speak with my worker, they told me that the worker were not accepting calls and I would have to wait and just check my card everyday. They also couldn't give me an Ideal of when I would receive them.
12 06, 2013 | 02:31
Charlotte: My son and I have been hit by the delay as well. When you are hit by this delay ,call your food stamp worker on a daily basis. If your worker doesn't answer, leave a message, don't give up. I was calling every hour on the hour. I was unable to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family. You can call the Ebt snap number to find out what is going on with your recertification process. When push comes to shove CALL your workers superviser everyday if need be . The second time I had to wait over two weeks for my benefits. The first recertification took six weeks. Be persistant call everyday!!!!
12 07, 2013 | 00:45
Kathy: We were suppose to get our stamps today when I called the card nothing was there. I know they got my recertification papers as a lady called me (I used a old return address label). Whats bad is my husband is a diabetic and heart patient and here in Onslow County the food pantries are very slim. It's bad enough they took some away the First of Nov. as we live on a very fixed income but now nothing for Dec. no notice or anything. I think we all should email to Govenor and White House.
12 07, 2013 | 08:50
Carla: I live in rowan and I have not gotten anything in almost 3 months and no one can tell me anything. I am disable and very fixed income I have a hard time paying my bills as is. You can only go to food bank once every 30 days and that's not even a week of food so we are going without so what can we do

Lost out here Greensboro NC: Me and my 5 children still have nothing!! I'm so tired of this BS!!!The month of September was the last time that we received SNAP!!nothing for November or December! This world is really coming to an end!!
12 08, 2013 | 22:50
Kathy: still no call from my case worker and running out of things my husband can eat. tried to email the Govenor and conviently that web page is unavailable. hopefully they will call and tell me what is going on. we didn't even get a notice on how much they were cutting us in Nov.
12 09, 2013 | 11:51
Kathy: well talked to a caseworker and all I got told was it is pending and right now they are working on the 1st week of Nov. redetermination just keep checking and if nothing by Friday call them back
12 10, 2013 | 01:39
Grandma: Well still no ebt funds on my card Nothing since June 13 Maybe Friday the 13th of December will be a lucky day Called dss no one to talk to as everybody 's call going to voice mail. Now it is time to re certify for Medicaid so I guess that will be the same I was told to call my case worker I have called her each day since 12/1 still have not talked to her voice mail says she will call back. Hmmm My phone still works
12 12, 2013 | 17:15
Kathy: Grandma call the main number and ask to speak to her supervisor. that is what i had to do. still no stamps but they are working on it now.
12 13, 2013 | 01:34
Grandma: Well Once again Called no food stamps. 12 13, 2013 | 10:31
NotHappyInHappy: I am in Davie County and did not receive my benefits this month. I had not heard anything about this delay so I called my case worker and was told that she was not in the office! Davie County only has 1 EBT case worker and 1 supervisor so why in the he** was she out during this mess. I was told by the receptionist that I should have my benefits in February or March. My husband works his butt off but I am no longer working because I have multiple medical problems and most recently, cancer. My husband and I have 3 children and were used to me working so we went on food stamps so that we didn't have to pick between feeding out kids and paying keep a roof over their heads. Now, we have used the money that we have been saving all year to buy Christmas gifts for the kids to put a month worth of groceries in our home. I did learn from over hearing a DSS worker that most of them qualify for benefits and the ones that do have had NO delay on theirs..."Thank God none of us are having to wait on our benefits to post. Id we didnt work here we would be screws like everybody else.". This is poor planning on somebody's part
12 19, 2013 | 22:46
sheena: I have the same issue and did back in the summer when it was time to recertify. I called me caseworker, nothing her boss, nothing BUT help was on the way!! I called the boss over the whole social services at ours her extension was 2000 and she had them on the next day after I politely explained the situation. I have 5 small children at home, work part time school full time she made sure the next day my whole benefits were on. Praying it works again!
12 22, 2013 | 10:37
Anonymous: I am homeless (unemployed looking for work) and have not received food assistance yet. It is very hard... I only have mac n cheese left from a food pantry... and lima beans today. I just think the wait is unacceptable. So many people rely on temporary assistance.
12 23, 2013 | 18:03
Chuck: Regarding my previous comment of 2.18.14 i would like to retract the vacation comment. my case worker called on the evening of the 18th feb and there was an issue of identity theft. i still believe phone contact or messages should be available at all times during business hours.
02 19, 2014 | 16:27
Randy: Does anyone know status of backlog in Iredell county. I have to re certify in march? Have the problems been fixed with the computers there?
02 25, 2014 | 08:42
james: Had to recert in Feb in Iredell Co. FS allotment did not show up on 4/3. Have a call in to DSS if I don't hear anything today will go to Statesville tomorrow...
03 04, 2014 | 12:17
HungryinHarmony: I live in Iredell County. My recert was due in January. I turned mine in on time. My reload was to be done on the 3rd of February. Iredell county always takes at least a month to process the paperwork so I really did not expect anything on the 3rd, but was confident that I would have my benefits reloaded on the 15th, which was a month from the due date of my recert paperwork. When the 15th came and gone with no benefits I started calling my caseworker, who I can never keep up with because it changes frequently. I left messages to the person that the receptionist transferred me to. No call returned. I waited another week. No mail with a yes or no on the recert. I called again. I was sent to a caseworker whose voicemail was full. I called back the next morning. Once again was transferred to the same caseworker, whose name is Lillian something (I can never catch the last name) and just like the day before the voicemail was full. I called right back and asked to speak with anyone in food and nutrition services as my caseworkers voicemail was full and even if it wasn't she isn't returning my phone calls. I was then lucky enough to actually get a person on the phone. She was super nice. After asking for my information so that she could look me up in the computer system she goes on to say that they are behind and that I should have my benefits in two weeks and if I don't then to call back and she would look into it. I waited the two weeks, but was checking my balance daily. After two weeks and I still didn't have a balance I called back. I have been calling multiple times a day. I am not able to leave voicemail messages as everyone's mailbox is full. I even went as far as searching for the supervisors name online. I found it and an email. I emailed, Selena Varnadore, 2 weeks ago. I told her about the phone calls not being returned, nothing received in the mail, and all voicemail boxes are full. She still has yet to email or call me. I have even asked to speak with her when I call. The receptionist connects me to her and after waiting and listening to the recording tell me that she is currently on the phone I was mysterly disconnected and I had to start all over with the number choices of who to speak with. I do not know what makes these so called social workers decide that it is acceptable to not return phone calls of upset citizens. I understand that they can't be on the phone all day and get our information keyed into this new NCFast system. My solution to that is to send out a letter to everyone that is or could possibly be affected by this and explain the situation. Have someone in the office that will be available to take calls and help people. My children are going hungry. They have officially become the children who only eat at school. My husband works in construction and due to weather is not getting many hours in. How do you choose between using the money for lights, rent, gas for the vehicle that takes him to and from work, and food? If we don't have a place to live or gas in the vehicle to make money how can we purchase food or be able to prepare it?!?! And before anyone says that I should get up off my butt and get a job. I am looking! I have two associate degrees in the medical field, filling out job applications and sending in resumes daily to no avail, and even if I were to be hired we are a one vehicle family, we do not have family here in Iredell county that could help us with childcare. We have not always been in need of help, but unforeseen circumstances have forced us to turn to the government for help. I am embarrassed to use the EBT card because I hear the snide remarks that are made in the grocery store, but I swallow my pride and swipe that card knowing that this is the only way my family can eat and I use the card with a clear conscience. All I can do is hope and pray that one day we will no longer need to rely on EBT for food. I don't want to live like this forever. I will pray for everyone who is being affected by this delay. If anyone finds anything out or how to get in contact with someone please share. We are all going hungry. And I can just about bet you that those social workers are walking out to their nice cars, walking into their nice homes, and sitting down to a nice meal all while not thinking twice about the people that they vowed to help and care about.
03 08, 2014 | 18:40
Randy: HungryinHarmony thank you for sharing your experience here. Did you ever get help? This blog kind of went cold. Could everyone have finally got their food stamps after the first deadline or did they give up. Still trying to get through to Iredel then was disconnected after being on Please would appreciate if anyone has recent experience or update on backlog for Iradel.
03 14, 2014 | 17:54
Randy: James did you get recertified? Any update ? What happened when you went down there ? I wonder if they are working on weekend ? Things are supposed to be cleaned up end of march so maybe I will get something next month?
03 14, 2014 | 18:08
HungryinHarmony: Randy, I still have not received help. I've emailed the DHHS Food and Nutrition Division and told them my story. I was told that they would contact Iredell DSS and get back to me. That was a week ago today, 3/17/14, so I took it upon myself to contact the FNS customer support. I spoke with a rep there and she looked up my information and said that according to her records I've never turned in my recert; which is complete bull!!!! I physically took it to DSS like I always do! So, I guess I'll be driving into Statesville tomorrow using gas that I can't afford. As always, I pray that all of us are helped in one way or another. God Bless you all!

nacolae : Sad to say, but I'm in the same situation. I have 5 children, my youngest is 3 with a late birthday. So no school for her until next September. I'm unemployed. I applied for assistance for cash benefits in January. Me and my children been without since then and the bad part is we dnt have any other help from nowhere. wento the social service building yesterday they told me t superviser has my file now and I should hear something next week in the mail.
03 18, 2014 | 18:33
HungryinHarmony: Well wouldn't you know that after I emailed DHHS and complained about Iredell County DSS and then called the customer service number I got a return email from Selena Varnadore, the supervisor of the Food and Nutritional Services department and she said that they did receive my case and they are still working on the February recertifications and to expect my benefits by the end of this week. I don't know if I will actually receive them because I was told that I would receive them about 2.5 weeks ago from a caseworker. So needless to say I won't hold my breath. IF I do receive benefits I will let everyone know.
03 19, 2014 | 13:37
InsideHelpWhoCares&AshamedOfMyStateLegis: If they haven't processed your recertification and it has been over 30 days since you have received assistance, apply for emergency food stamps, by guideline they have to process those applications in 7 days. Hope this helps those in need

HungryInHarmony: Just a little update on my situation; my EBT was to be refilled today and nothing. I came up for recert in July. I took my recert papers to Iredell DSS and they were scanned in on July 1. I had until the 15th to turn it in. I'm sorry but this is beyond ridiculous. Why does the recert always take so long? I've had this problem since I moved to Iredell county? My previous county, which is 35 minutes away, never done this. I could always count on the social worker processing my recert in a timely manner. I'll be calling in the morning. I'm sure I'll be waiting my time as everyone's voicemail is always full and if you can leave a message they never call back. I'm conveinced that Iredell county workers are just slack butt workers.

True heart : I didn't get my food stamps today for the first time since I had them. . I did my paper I needed to fill out at the food stamp office, they actually helped me as I can't see good , I did it before July 1 2014 . Has there been a lot of people not getting theirs this month. It's Saturday so can't find out nothing till Monday and I have a handicap child that has to eat certain kinds of food and I needed to go shopping for the weekend and I knew today was the day I get them on the 16th but when I checked there . Nothing was put on my card. So I am a bit upset as I needed to get some things for my son and can't and with having to get my car fixed this mth took most of my money and I'm worried as I was reading this some people were without theirs for weeks and mths so does anyone know whT I should do. These days it's hard to get help at our local food stamp office

Jelra: Well I wasn't due for recertification until next month but I didn't get my stamps either on the 17th like always. I am in buncombe county and this is super frustrating with a full time job and 4 kids. All anyone can say is to keep checking your card everyday.
08 23, 2014 | 15:50
Sug: Time for everyone to contact legal aid for their county. It's ridiculous that families have to wait. NC seems to be the worst of all of them. They tax you to death on EVERYTHING and expect you to wait for what small assistance you get. The wholecountry is in the crapper and neither side cares. Prayers for everyone.
12 09, 2014 | 17:27
Natassja Phillips: Today was suppose to be the day I get my food stamps which is the 7th of every month, but still there has been no successful change. It's a wonder I find ways to feed myself, the governmetn was told to get everybody's food stamps up to date by the 10th of February or lose $100,000, that's going to hurt a lot of families that need that money for when it's time for them to get paid at their jobs. This is getting frustrating, I've been very patient with the Social Service People, but my patient is wearing thin, if they can't get me my food stamps, I don't know what I'm going to do.
